Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2051 by Huberty (Relating to the new instructional facility allotment under the foundation school program.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would increase the allotment under the New Instructional Facilities Allotment (NIFA) of the Foundation School Program from $250 to $1,000 for each student in average daily attendance at an eligible facility. Existing Education Code §42.158(d) caps NIFA appropriations at $25 million annually; the bill would not adjust this statutory cap.
No significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated due to the provisions of this bill.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
School districts that receive funding under the New Instructional Facilities Allotment could receive an increase in state aid.
