No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends the Government Code to require the Texas Veterans Commission (Commission) to approve training provided by public or private entities to fulfill initial and continuing training requirements for veteran county service officers and assistant veterans county service officers. Under the provisions of the bill, the Commission may provide training at least once a year and if state funds are appropriated the Commission shall reimburse an officer's travel and lodging expenses incurred in attending training provided by the Commission otherwise, the commissioner's court of an officer's county shall reimburse an officer's travel and lodging expenses incurred in attending required training.


Based on the information provided by the commission, this analysis assumes that the costs associated with the implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

According to Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
