No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to the designation of an authorized emergency vehicle. The bill would add an emergency management or airport security vehicle to be classified as an emergency vehicle if the vehicle is owned or leased in which the constituent agencies are in a municipality with a population over 400,000 and has been designated or authorized by the joint board.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
