IN RE:
HB2457 by Meyer (Relating to recovery of attorney’s fees in certain civil cases.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to allow a person to recover attorney's fees from an individual, organization, the state, an agency or institution of the state, or a political subdivision of the state recognized by Texas law. The bill would also remove corporations as an entity from which a person is allowed to recover attorney's fees. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact
