IN RE:
HB2574 by Murr (Relating to rules adopted by the Texas Supreme Court to promote the expedited resolution of a civil action.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Supreme Court of Texas to adopt rules regarding the resolution of certain claims for damages in which the amount in controversy, including attorney's fees, does not exceed $100,000, would change the requirement to reach claims for damages in which the amount in controversy does not exceed $200,000, and would remove attorney's fees from the calculation of the amount in controversy. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
