FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2582 by Sheffield (relating to an exemption for certain quarries from regulation as aggregate production operations.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Texas Water Code, Section 28A.001(1) to amend the definition of an "aggregate production operation" to exclude a site from which (1) specialty or terrazzo-type stone material is extracted for decorative or artistic uses and (2) the portion of the specialty or terrazzo-type stone horizon exposed for current production for commercial sale in the site does not exceed five acres.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Department of Transportation estimate that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
