No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code and the Natural Resources Code. It would allow the use of videoconferencing, teleconferencing, and other remote electronic means in court proceedings related to release from custody and determination of indigent status in cases where a respondent has been arrested for failure to pay child support. The bill would make certain oil and gas proceeds subject to child support property liens. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and of the Office of the Attorney General, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
