LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 10, 2017

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2663 by Pickett (Relating to exempting certain persons from a fee for replacement registration insignia and license plates.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to specify that no fee is required for the replacement of registration insignia or replacement of license plates if a county tax-assessor collector determines that the owner of a registered motor vehicle did not receive a registration insignia or license plates that were issued to the owner by mail.

Based on the information provided by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, it is assumed the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state and any costs could be absorbed within the agency's current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
