LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2017

TO:
Honorable J. M. Lozano, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2975 by Raney (Relating to requiring public junior colleges to report certain financial and instructional information for certain instructional locations.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

The bill would amend the Education Code by adding a section relating to reporting information regarding expenditures, formula funding, contact hours, success points, tuition and fee revenue, and the number of full-time and adjunct faculty at each instructional site of a community college district. The community college districts currently report on this information based on Rider 23 in the Public Community and Junior College bill pattern, 84th Legislature. This analysis assumes that any additional costs related to the increased reporting requirements would be paid with institutional funds.
