No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code to limit the domains with which school districts and campuses must be evaluated for purposes of accountability. The bill would specify that certain domains apply to elementary, middle, and junior high schools and limit the assessment instrument results which may be used to evaluate high school campuses and districts that include those campuses. The bill would take effect immediately if passed with necessary voting margins, or September 1, 2017, and would apply beginning in school year 2017-18.
The Texas Education Agency indicates it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within its existing resources.
