No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Transportation Code to include categories of race or ethnicity for persons stopped for or convicted of traffic offenses. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed in existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
