HB3083 by Price (Relating to repayment of certain mental health professional education loans.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Education Code relating to repayment of certain mental health professional education loans. The bill would allow certain chemical dependency counselors to be eligible to participate in the program. Under provisions of the bill, the Higher Education Coordinating Board would be required to maximize any matching funds available through the state loan repayment program under the National Health Service Corps program of the United State Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.

Based on an analysis of information provided by the Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Health and Human Services Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
