FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 11, 2017

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3125 by Kuempel (Relating to charitable raffles conducted by the charitable foundations of certain professional sports teams.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to expand the number and types of professional sports teams for which an associated charitable foundation is authorized to conduct a charitable raffle.

The Office of the Attorney General, Comptroller of Public Accounts, and Texas Lottery Commission anticipate any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill cold be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

The bill would take effect December 1, 2017 only if the constitutional amendment proposed by the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, to authorize professional sports team charitable foundations to conduct charitable raffles at additional venues is approved by voters.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
