FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3204 by Raymond (Relating to vendor requirements under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 1001 of the Health and Safety Code to include certain predominantly WIC program vendors as authorized vendors in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and prohibit certain requirements in a WIC program vendor agreement for predominantly WIC program vendors. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) anticipates that the provisions of the bill would result in a minimal number of additional vendors participating in the WIC program. DSHS indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
