No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code and Transportation Code prohibiting a political subdivision or person from selling or transferring a marked patrol car or other law enforcement motor vehicle unless any insignia and equipment that could mislead a person to identify the vehicle as a law enforcement vehicle is removed. The Attorney General could recover a civil penalty of $1,000 if the vehicle was used during the commission of a crime.
The Attorney General estimates no significant fiscal impact to the state.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
