Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3347 by Huberty (Relating to before-school and after-school programs established by public school districts.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would permit the board of trustees of a school district to establish before-school and/or after-school programs for students in elementary or middle school. The bill specifies that state or local funds appropriated for educational purposes could not be used for such programs.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017, or immediately if passed with the necessary voting margins.
Local Government Impact
Districts that decide to implement a before-school or after-school program would be prohibited from using state or local funds appropriated for educational purposes for such programs, and would need to secure other funding for such programs. District participation would be voluntary, and any associated fiscal impact is not expected to be significant.
