No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to require the court, when considering an application for approval of a transfer of a structure settlement, to seal documents containing certain identifying information about the payee or to allow the parties to redact that information from the documents, if the parties meet applicable requirements. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and the Office of the Attorney General, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
