LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2017

TO:
Honorable James White, Chair, House Committee on Corrections

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3402 by Bonnen, Dennis (relating to the sale of certain state property in Brazoria County by the Texas Board of Criminal Justice.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

There could be an indeterminate one-time revenue gain to the state depending on the sale price of the property.

The bill would require the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to sell real property, as described in the bill, in Brazoria County through the General Land Office if the Board receives a bid at fair market value of the property. Assuming a sales transaction occurs, there would be a one-time General Revenue Fund gain in the amount of the sale price to the Department of Criminal Justice. Any costs associated with the sale of the property could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
