LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2017

TO:
Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3420 by Darby (Relating to the designation of the San Angelo State Supported Living Center as a forensic state supported living center.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to designate the San Angelo State Supported Living Center (SSLC) as a forensic SSLC. San Angelo currently serves as the primary provider of residential services and supports for female alleged offenders. This analysis assumes that the bill would codify current practice and would not change the number of alleged offenders served at the San Angelo SSLC. The Health and Human Services Commission indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
