No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to direct the Health and Human Services Commission's (HHSC) Office of Inspector General (IG) to ensure there is no disparity in the number of audits of hospitals, hospital systems, and other providers. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.

Based on Legislative Budget Board analysis of HHSC and the IG, duties and responsibilities associated with managing audit activities by the IG could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
