No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, Family Code, Health and Safety Code, and Transportation Code related to assistance for foster children, homeless children or youth, and unaccompanied youth. Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, Department of Public Safety, Health and Human Services Commission, Department of Family and Protective Services, Department of State Health Services, and Juvenile Justice Department, it is assumed that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

According to the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association, the bill would have no fiscal impact on justice courts.
