No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code allowing a governing body of a general-law municipality with a population of 1,500 to 5,000 may annex an area that is adjacent to the annexing municipality, that is not being served with water or sewer service from a governmental entity and for which a petition requesting annexation has been filed with the municipality,

The bill would take effect immediately if the bill receives a two-thirds votes in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
