No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Government Code relating to the promotion of the cruise industry in this state by the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office. The bill would require the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office to establish a program to promote the cruise industry. The bill would require the office to conduct studies regarding economic effect, funding sources, and legislative changes required to expand and improve the cruise industry, and to biennially report the findings of these studies. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Based on the LBB's analysis of the Office of the Governor, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
