No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to requiring the statewide health coordinating council and state health plan to examine and report on the impact of low health literacy on consumers and the health care system. Based on the LBB's analysis of the Department of State Health Services, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
