No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Health and Safety Code relating to the authority of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas to administer the Texas Cancer Clinical Trials Program. The bill would allow CPRIT to make grants for programs to encourage access to and participation in clinical trials, including financial assistance for certain costs. The bill would require CPRIT to create an advisory committee on access to clinical trials.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas indicates that any costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
