IN RE:
HB4044 by Cortez (Relating to the application of discipline to certain students with autism or another pervasive developmental disorder.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code to require a school district's student code of conduct to provide for notification of parents and students with autism or another pervasive developmental disorder before beginning a disciplinary process. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
The Texas Education Agency anticipates school districts will incur nominal administrative costs associated with making the required modifications to the student code of conduct, updating local disciplinary procedures, and providing notification to parents of students with autism or another pervasive developmental disorder when a disciplinary process might result from the student's misconduct.
