No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would prohibit the Commissioner of Education from revoking the charter of an open-enrollment charter school if the revocation is based on a data error reported by the charter school to the Public Education Information Management System.
Based on information provided by the Texas Education Agency, any costs associated with implementing the provisions of this bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds from each chamber; otherwise, it would take effect on September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
