IN RE:	SB249 by Schwertner (Relating to the submission of an affordability and access report by public institutions of higher education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the chief executive of each institution of higher education to submit a report on affordability and access to the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and each member of the Legislature, in addition to the governing board of the institution. Under existing law, the report is only required to be provided to the governing board of the institution.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board estimates that there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
