LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 29, 2017

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB363 by Perry (Relating to the uniform election dates for certain political subdivisions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to the uniform election dates for certain political subdivisions.

The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, for Hunt County, any voting machine used in a March election cannot be used in a May election. This would require the County to purchase additional voting machines to accommodate back to back elections; therefore, a fiscal impact is anticipated.
