No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code setting the last day a candidate can withdraw from a general primary election to the third day after the regular filing deadline.
The Secretary of State estimates any fiscal impact from the bill can be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
