SB378 by Perry (Relating to the persons authorized to conduct an inquest in certain counties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

In certain counties, provides for justices of the peace or county judges to request inquests into a person's death in certain other counties when a local official is not available.  Directs that records of these inquests be transferred for final disposition by the requesting county and prohibits compensation other than mileage for conducting the inquest.

According to the Office of Court Administration no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.


Local Government Impact

According to the Office of Court Administration no significant fiscal impact to the local courts is anticipated.

According to the Texas Association of Counties and the Justice of Peace and Constables Association, the fiscal impact to counties to implement the bill is not anticipated to be significant.
