LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 20, 2017

TO:
Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB526 by Birdwell (relating to the abolishment of certain advisory committees and other state entities.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends various statutes including the Government, Family, and Insurance Codes to abolish eleven state agency advisory committees, nine of which the administering agencies indicate are no longer active. Regarding the two active advisory committees, according to the Office of the Attorney General, removal of the Residential Mortgage Fraud Task Force and the Information Resources Steering Committee would reduce work for the agency, however, the fiscal impact would be negligible.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
