FROM:

IN RE:
SB539 by Hinojosa (Relating to the qualifications for an impartial third party in certain civil disputes.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to require a person to complete a minimum of eight hours of family violence dynamics training developed in consultation with a statewide family violence advocacy organization to qualify for an appointment as an impartial third party in a dispute relating to the parent-child relationship. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, Office of the Attorney General, and Health and Human Services Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
