SB581 by Whitmire (Relating to the requirements for a change of name for a person with a final felony conviction or a person required to register as a sex offender.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code to provide additional options for the courts to order certain name changes if a person is requesting a change that will reflect the primary name used in the person's criminal record. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and Department of Criminal Justice, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

According to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal impact to counties is anticipated.
