No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that a person appointed by the Lieutenant Governor or the Speaker of the House to the governing body of a legislative agency or committee under the provisions of the bill serves at the pleasure of the appointing officer and may be removed or replaced by the appointing officer or the appointing officer's successor. The bill would also provide that a person appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House, or a statewide elected officer to a committee, council, commission, task force, or other public entity under the provisions of the bill serves at the pleasure of the appointing officer and may be removed or replaced by the appointing officer or the appointing officer's successor. Duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources.
