FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2017

TO:
Honorable Kelly Hancock, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB659 by Campbell (Relating to the availability of personal information of a statewide elected official or member of the legislature.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code and the Tax Code to include statewide elected officials and members of the Legislature as those for whom certain types of personal information are confidential.

The Comptroller of Public Accounts and the Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
