No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code relating to education requirements for a notary public appointment; authorizing a fee.
Under the terms of the bill, the Secretary of State would be required to set a nonrefundable vendor application and renewal fee for a vendor of an educational course in an amount sufficient to cover the costs to establish the standards and approval process for an education course and to provide a free educational course to notary public applicants. Based on this requirement, this analysis assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed by the Secretary of State using existing resources.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.
