No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code allowing Tarrant County to set the salary of a full-time magistrate to not exceed 90 percent of the sum of the salary of a district judge paid by the state and the maximum amount of county contributions and supplements allowed by law.

The bill would also clarify the powers of Tarrant County criminal law magistrates.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
