No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Property Code by limiting the initial and daily fees that a landlord may charge a tenant for failing to pay rent. The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could reasonably be absorbed within current resources.
The bill would take effect January 1, 2018.
