No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would repeal Section 75.0022(b) of the Civil Practices and Remedies Code relating to limited liability of certain electric utilities. The bill would repeal subsection (b) such that the limitation on liability would apply to all counties, irrespective of population.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote of all members in both chambers; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) and the Texas Municipal League (TML) anticipate no significant fiscal implications to units of local government.
