IN RE:
SB1152 by Menéndez (Relating to excused absences from public school for the purpose of pursuing enlistment in a branch of the armed services of the United States or the Texas National Guard.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code to require a school district to excuse a student, aged 17 or older, from attending school for up to four days to pursue enlistment in a branch of the armed services of the United States or the Texas National Guard.
This analysis assumes any additional cost to the Foundation School Program resulting from the implementation of the provisions of the legislation would be minimal.
The bill would apply beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
