IN RE:
SB1203 by Perry (Relating to the issuance of subpoenas or certain other court orders with respect to an online service provider in the investigation or prosecution of certain criminal offenses.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to expand the reach of an issuance of a subpoena, search warrants, and other court orders to include online service providers, including a search engine, web hosting company, web browsing company, manufacturer of devices providing online application platforms, or any company providing online social media services and would expand this authority to reach criminal investigations into human trafficking, certain sexual offenses, and public indecency. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
