No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code and the Government Code to provide that a court may protect the address of an applicant for a protective order by requiring the applicant to disclose his or her mailing address to the court and to designate a person to receive any notice or documents on behalf of the complainant. The bill would establish various requirements for the court pertaining to these protective orders to maintain the confidentiality of the applicant. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and the Department of Public Safety, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
