No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Alcoholic Beverage Code to require the testing of alcoholic beverages by a laboratory certified by the United States Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau or its successor agency before being shipped, imported, manufactured and offered for sale, distributed, or sold in the state. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission indicates that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
