LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 28, 2017

TO:
Honorable Charles Perry, Chair, Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1312 by Miles (Relating to the deadline for adoption of desired future conditions in groundwater conservation districts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Water Code as it relates to the timing of the adoption of desired future conditions by groundwater conservation districts and the consideration of those desired conditions in the regional water planning process.  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) would need to adopt rule changes to implement the bill.  Based on the analysis of TWDB, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
