LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 28, 2017

TO:
Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1317 by Uresti (Relating to the earliest day a school district may require a teacher to report for service and information regarding required teacher attendance on noninstructional days.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Education Code to limit how early a district can require teachers to report at the beginning of a school year, and would require districts to notify teachers of in-service days for the next school year prior to the last day for resignation.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Some districts may incur nominal administrative expenses to ensure all timelines are met and school calendars align with the bill's provisions, and if professional development and other events must be rescheduled to comply with the bill.
