FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1560 by Taylor, Larry (Relating to the offense of operating certain vehicles without a license plate.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Transportation Code §504.943, relating to the offense of operation of a vehicle without a license plate, to include provisions for motor vehicles equipped by the manufacturer with not more than one area to display a license plate. The changes in law established by the bill would apply only to an offense committed on or after the effective date of the bill. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that implementation of the bill would not result in significant fiscal implications to the agency or the State.
Local Government Impact
An offense under the provisions of the bill is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200. Revenue gain from fines imposed and collected is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication.
