No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the 50 school districts with the highest enrollments to maintain certain financial information on their Internet websites, including: total expenditures, total revenue, budget, a visualization chart, and a transaction register for each checking account.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
TEA estimates school districts would need to hire at least one FTE to compile the information, create an electronic searchable format, a visualization chart, and to maintain the posted information. TEA estimates that each district would hire an additional employee (budget analyst) at an annual cost of $60,000, which would have annual statewide impact of $3,000,000 ($60,000 x 50 districts).
