No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to a task force of border health officials. Based on the LBB's analysis of the Department of State Health Services, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
According to the Department of State Health Services, border local governments serving on the task force will incur travel costs for task force activities and meetings.
