IN RE:
SB1736 by Hughes (Relating to the liability of a person who allows handguns to be carried on property owned, controlled, or managed by the person.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to provide that evidence that a person failed to exercise the person's option to forbid the carrying of a handgun by a license holder on the property is not admissible as evidence in a trial against any person who owns, controls, or manages the property if the cause of action arises from an injury sustained on the property. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
